X-WR-CALDESC:WHAT IS SOCIAL ROLE VALORIZATION?  The theory of Social Role V
 alorization (SRV) grew out of what many people know as “normalization.”  T
 his introductory workshop to SRV will present (a) the common life experien
 ces of people who are marginalized and devalued in our society\, and (b) S
 RV as a way to address some of these experiences in order to support peopl
 e to become valued members of the community.   \n\nTHE WORKSHOP IS DESIGNE
 D TO ASSIST PARTICIPANTS TO:\n•	Reflect on devaluation and how it affects t
 he lives of people who are at risk.\n•	Learn about the concept of SRV which
  is an organized way of addressing devaluation (both in one’s personal and
  work life).\n•	Have an opportunity to examine personal values and commitme
 nts to people who are devalued and to be renewed. \n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND?  
 Anyone who seriously desires a deeper understanding of the common life exp
 eriences of persons who are devalued and desires to work to make life bett
 er for such persons\, e.g.\, human service workers\, people with disabilit
 ies\, advocates\, and family members.  \n\nWORKSHOP LEADER The workshop wi
 ll be presented by Darcy Elks\, M.A.  Darcy has been involved with persons
  who are societally devalued for many years and has worked throughout the 
 United States\, Canada and Australia.  She has worked in a variety of huma
 n services\, conducted many training events\, evaluated services\, and has
  been a consultant to programs that are striving for quality.   As well\, 
 Darcy has been an advocate for persons with disabilities.   She is a mothe
 r of three children\, one of whom has a disability. \n\nWHEN AND WHERE WIL
 L THE WORKSHOP BE HELD? The Social Role Valorization workshop will be held
  on May 19\, 20 & 21\, 2015 at Nebraska Wesleyan University\, 5000 St. Pau
 l Ave.\, Lincoln\, NE.  \n\nHOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO ATTEND?   Attendees w
 ill be charged a $250.00 workshop registration fee.  \n\nIS ATTENDANCE LIM
 ITED?   Attendance at the Social Role Valorization workshop will be limite
 d to 50 attendees.  To ensure a spot\, register early.  The registration d
 eadline is May 8\, 2015.\n\nFULL PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED 
   Participants should arrive well-rested and plan to be free of outside co
 mmitments for this workshop.   If you register to attend\, please plan on 
 attending required discussion and work sessions lasting into early evening
 .  \n\nLODGING INFORMATION  Participants are responsible for making their 
 own lodging reservations.   The registration fee does not cover lodging co
 sts.  The New Victorian Suites is located in close proximity to the Colleg
 e and a block of rooms are guaranteed for a discounted price at a first co
 me/first served basis. Just ask for the “Disability Rights Nebraska rate” 
 when you call to reserve your room. Reservations can be made at: (402) 464
