It's All About The Plan!

Summer Self-Advocacy Offerings Expanded!

This summer, we've expanded opportunities for students with disabilities AND parents & family members to participate in sessions and activities that will help support students in their next steps beyond high school.  As always, all sessions are free thanks to a Nebraska VR grant.

For Students:  "It's All About the Plan" allows students to learn and practice self-advocacy skills.  Sessions will be held in Lincoln and Scottsbluff.  This year, Lincoln sessions are open to students from Lincoln Public Schools, Lincoln parochial schools, and surrounding areas (Waverly, Norris, etc.)  Sessions run July 17-19 and July 24-26.  Sessions for youth ages 14-17 and ages 18-21 will be held.  Download a flyer with times, locations, and registration information for Lincoln sessions.

NEW!  Southeast NE Parent & Family Sessions:  Working with your child to create a vision for his or her future depends on having all the information you need. Parents and family members can attend these informational sessions in Nebraska City on July 9, July 16, or July 28; or in Beatrice on July 23, July 28, and August 6.  Each session will cover different topics.  You may sign up for one, two, or three free sessions.  The same information will be covered in each location. The Agenda for the Nebraska City family sessions and the Agenda for the Beatrice family sessions are now available.

Scottsbluff Sessions:  Youth Ages 18-21: June 4-7, 2018.  Youth ages 14-17:  June 11-14, 2018. These sessions are done for 2018, but check back in with us next spring!

You can view photos from last year's student sessions at the bottom of this page.

Self-advocacy skills help people speak up for what they want and need in life.  It is especially important for students with disabilities to learn how they can make their voices heard!
