A PLACE TO CALL HOME (2011)

A Place to Call Home is a 10-minute video about Equip for Equality's litigation efforts toward Olmstead in Illinois. As a result of Ligas v. Hamos, about 9,000 Illinois residents with developmental disabilities were given the opportunity to live in the community of their choice.

THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

In 2009, the Civil Rights Division launched an aggressive effort to enforce the Supreme Court's decision in Olmstead v. L.C., a ruling that requires states to eliminate unnecessary segregation of persons with disabilities and to ensure that persons with disabilities receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs. View the Statement of the United States Department of Justice on Enforcement of the Integration Mandate of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Olmstead v. L.C., read the Opinion of the Court for Olmstead v. L. C., or find more information on the DOJ Olmstead page.
