Nebraska's 109th Legislature, 1st Regular Session Legislature began on January 8, 2025. As bills are introduced, Disability Rights Nebraska analyzes and researches proposed legislation, outlines priorities in our bill chart, and educates policymakers and the public on how legislation will affect people with disabilities.
We address “High Priority” bills with testimony, personal contacts and education, and “Medium Priority” bills with letters, often in conjunction with other disability rights partners. Though legislation identified in the "Monitoring" category is followed closely, Disability Rights Nebraska does not take action or voice a position on these bills.

Legislative Bill 1262, introduced by State Sen. Jen Day of Omaha, would have the commission contract with a consultant with expertise in tribal issues to study and determine any barriers to voting and equal representation for Indian tribes in Nebraska.
A bill that would direct millions in federal ARPA funds toward tackling the state’s affordable housing shortage was considered by the Appropriations Committee Feb. 20.
